Very good authentic Mexican food. The chips and salsa are homemade. I had the chimichangas and they were delicious 😋. Will eat here again! 😊
The Mayan Burrito (pictured here) was one of the best burritos I've ever eaten -- at ANY restaurant. The chips and salsa provided with the meal were also top-notch. Our server was courteous and helpful. I'll definitely be coming back!
I just had the worst experience ever as a customer going to a restaurant. I went to El Ray Azteca Mexican Restaurant hoping to enjoy some mexican cuisine. Well that didn't happen. I received a Frozen Microwaved Entree. The only thing hotter than the plate was the taco which was the only thing Fresh on my plate. The waitress served me Frozen Salsa with my complimentary salsa and chips. Which she did not realize it was frozen and she was bringing it to me so she said. Do not I repeat do not spend your hard-earned dollars at this restaurant!
The food was on time and delicious.
Had Bday Dinner here. Service was Excellent and so was the food.
Food was pretty tasty although portions were pretty small when compared to the prices charged. Our waitress was really friendly, though it took forever for our food to come out. I'd definitely give this place a try again, though they have some definite areas for improvement.
Sorry i traveled to try yall food we was very unsatisfied .. no flavor on the meat that was on my torta way to much lettuce and my husbands chicken quesadilla was nasty. Come on mexico yall can do better than that well i guess it depends on what part of mexico you are from kuz my kids dads family is from Veracruz mx and their food is so much better and even the other mexican restaurants i been to never this bad sorry u only get 1 star not coming back.this was my first time and last and trust me i know the difference between good mexican food and not. Been around them all my life so im not just a gringa that doenst know her food
Awesome service, great food, A+ from me.
Great Mexican food! I've been to the restaurant once and grub hubed twice. Everytime our food was good and the margaritas are amazing.
This place has great food at a reasonable price! Definitely recommend the guacamole table side and fajitas!
I've been here many times and each time including ordering take out has been great. The al pastor street tacos are my favorite. The mixed drinks and margaritas are top quality.Super friendly staff, clean restaurant, and very friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend, the rice is amazing!
The food was all amazing. I grew up in Southern California and love my Mexican food. I was always so disappointed in Mexican food around here. I’m so happy to have finally tried this place. It’s legit. Probably the most authentic in the area. Tastes just like food I would get in CA. My sons had the pulled pork tacos with a side of rice. All the flavors were amazing. My boys were so quiet and ate all their food. I had the Morelos tacos with Carne Asada. The meat was really huge and it could have used a little more flavor, but it was still good. Once I added a little rice and lemon juice to them they were perfect. My husband had the Mayan burrito and really liked it. The Horchata (drink) is perfect and tasted great- just like back at home. I also recommend the nachos supreme with ground beef. The flavors were so tasty. Can’t wait to go back and try more food.
First time at El Rey and I we had some of the best Mexican food in the area. Service was excellent and the waitress was personable and helpful. Food was delicious with huge portions. House margarita was tasty but did lack on the tequila. Asked for less ice on our second margarita too.
Loved it!! Kids had a great time, food was delicious and prices were reasonable.. Not a fan of the club music at the bar, but it was a friday night.. I get it..
First time checking out the new location last night, and it is just as good as on Blackman street. Simply the best authentic Mexican food in the Valley with a friendly staff that remembers you and treats you like a friend. The new location is much bigger than the previous one and is more upscale while keeping its cozy atmosphere. Also, if you are looking to spice things up, make sure to ask for their hot sauce; it is the best and hottest I have found in the area! If you haven't been here yet, you are really missing out!
Be careful if you eat here, the food is okay but we went for dinner and mistakenly left our credit card. We realized the next morning and instead of them being responsible the restaurant made $2000 worth of charges. When we went to pick it up the next day they collected a bunch of cards so we were one of many. Just be careful, it’s not the best food either.
My boyfriend LOVES Mexican food so we are always trying new places and we love this location! It is 2 hours away from us unfortunately, but whenever we are in town, we always make a stop here! Great and fast service.
Great local favorite for Mexican food! We’ve loved everything, including tacos burritos and tortas. The carne asada in the torts is awesome. Loving this burrito with chicken, shrimp, chorizo, steak and a tasty creamy sauce!
Went on a lunch date with my husband and everything was outstanding. We had the taquitos, tamales, Mayan burrito, and tres leches cake. All delicious. Our server was lovely as well. Can’t wait to come back!
It was very busy with several large groups. However, our waitress was attentive, courteous and the food came out in a timely fashion. Especially commendable as mentioned before the place was packed. Food was excellent. The hot sauce/salsa was awesome and the chips were great. Try it, you will not be disappointed!
Very nice place. My sister and I have had lunch here a few times. Our waitress today was Kimberly. She was very nice and the food was very good. The portion sizes are great! We will definately be back!
Good food, Drinks, Service and Price
Food was very good. Nice little family friendly spot with nice staff. We had morales tacos, spinach enchiladas and guacamole. All were great.
Friendly staff great service I haven't tried any there I dont like. Enjoy coming here after work with the friends to have two or three of this.
I have been to this restaurant a few times before and I've always had a pleasant experience. Until today. My friends and I made it to the bottom of our chips and salsa and found a deep fried cockroach. The situation was handled very poorly. I said one sentence to the waitress, "I think we are going to leave now," as I handed here the basket containing the deep fried roach. She apologized, and that was it. No one came over to address the situation and nothing was done about it, so after a few minutes we left. I am sad to say I will not be going back to El Rey Azteca.
My family's favorite restaurant! Great, home cooked food & a great staff.
No complaints whatsoever... I have eaten in, and ordered takeouts, and have never had any complaints. The Mayan Burrito is fantastic, and very filling. All of their Enchilada dishes they offer are delicious. The food is VERY Authentic and cooked how you would expect to have it in Mexico... Tons of love and time put in to their dishes and their food!
I think their food is wonderful! Wait staff is really great too
Great food. Don't bother with the margueritas. Salsa was decent. I had the classic burrito. Delicious!
Amazing Mexican food! The street tacos are delicious and I get them every time I go. They make guacamole fresh, table side and it's some of the tastiest guac you'll ever have. Nice and lively wait staff, enjoyable atmosphere. You definitely want to check this place out.
I can see why my date took me here for dinner. Nice selection covered in the menu. Decided to split Molcajete Campecino and it did not disappoint.
The food was cold and dry as well as having small portions for the prices. The service was horrible. Definitely will not be coming back.
The food was really tasty and authentic, staff was super friendly! Definitely the best Mexican food I've had in the area.
First time here. I was travelling for work and googled the area for restaurants. I ordered the dinner combo #1 which came with a beef burrito, a beef taco, a side of rice, and a side of beans. This is very authentic and service is very quick. The food tastes great and the price is fair. I have an authentic Mexican restaurant back home that I love and this place is just as good. I will stop back again later this week and again if I'm in the area. Great job El Rey Azteca!
Over priced and less food than other authentic Mexican restaurants. Food is okay but not as good and as much as others places.
Delicious Mayan Burrito! My wife and I enjoyed our visit here this evening. The portions are enormous! We ended up taking half (if not most) of it home.
First time here so we grabbed a few burritos on the way home. The multi colored is the Azteca, the cheese covered was the classic with chicken and the 3rd was Mayan burrito. I had the Azteca and it was packed to the gills and very filling.
Fresh, authentic Mexican food. The pricing is just perfect for the portion sizes given. This is the second time I have been here and I will continue to come back.
A really good meal. Steak in the fajitas was gristly, but well seasoned. House burrito was excellent across the board. Rice was delicious. And the hibiscus margarita was amazing - and enormous!!! Served in a clay bowl, it could easily have been shared between two people. And so good!!!Staff was friendly and attentive, and the place was clean. I still think El Zócalo has better food, but it's a completely different kind of place, a downtown lunch with no bar, so they're really not competing in the same game. Definitely planning to go back.
I am very picky and I was really impressed when I walked in. The place was very clean and our server Kimberly was attentive but not in a coming over to ask if everything was ok when your mouth is full way! Our food was so delicious. We will be going to Wilkes barre way more often. My new favorite place
Excellent place service was amazing and the food was excellent!!
The table side guacamole was fresh and delicious. The gentleman who prepared did not skimp on the jalapenos per my request. Very flavorful in every bite! I followed that with the Mayan Burrito which was a grand slam! It is a chorizo burrito with fried onions and even pineapple in it. It comes served over some chips and has a delicous souce covering it with cheese. I will definitely be returning here to eat again, and will be suggesting this place to people I talk to about food in the near future.
Good friendly place...real good food
Amazing !!! Crave this place better than other Mexican restaurants in the area.Currently enjoying leftovers still as amazing as when Doordash delivered it 😋...wish I saved more
Authentic atmosphere, attentive wait staff, delicious, authentic dishes
Amazing food amazing treatment great people
The chilli relleno was good as was the enchilada
First time to the new location. Very nice. Very good service. The food is authentic and delicious. Prices are good. This location does have a bar.
Al Pastor is delicious, Mayan Burrito banging.....MOLE Sauce is out of this world. Authentic Mexican food I experienced as a kid. Feels like home....the best #BENSONFOODGASM!!! was happening here!!!
Excellent authentic Mexican food and beverages. Crispy tortilla chips, tasty salsa, and great main courses. Great service, our server was Rosa and she was helped by several others. Highly recommended!
